There has been a grand discovery in how we understand nonverbal individuals on the autism spectrum. Through a special board and technique called “spelling,” they can share their world and thoughts with others for the first time.
In a podcast called The Telepathy Tapes that is currently #1 on YouTube, documentary filmmaker Ky Dickens explores extra-sensory abilities in non-speaking autistic individuals. She interviews and films the incredibly smart and intelligent nonverbal “spellers” — many of whom are telepathic. They communicate with family, friends, parents, and caregivers telepathically by reading their thoughts.
One of the spellers featured on The Telepathy Tapes is a young man named John Paul who lived with his mother, Libby. Even though John Paul was nonverbal, Libby discovered he was communicating with her telepathically with the assistance of Spelling to Communicate (S2C).

S2C is a method by which those on the spectrum communicate by pointing to letters on a letterboard. Spellers also use computers and iPads. S2C focuses on teaching purposeful motor skills, since many people on the spectrum don’t even realize they have hands.
John Paul was also able to communicate with deceased loved ones from Libby's family. He reported encountering an “angel” who visited him and told him about an aunt in their family who lived before Libby was born. The information he was receiving from the “angel” was accurate.
When John Paul was in his early 20s, he told his mother he was ready to pass on. He was tired of dealing with the outside world. He said goodbye to her and his friends on “the hill.” The spellers say “the hill” is in another dimension where spellers go to communicate with each other.
John Paul had a girlfriend named Lily who was also a speller. They had a very deep romantic relationship. They would even go on “dates” together while being in different rooms and on different floors of the house.
John Paul dreamed of being a writer and wanted to someday marry Lily, but those plans were cut short when John Paul passed away like he knew he would. Lily stays in communication with him and says she sees him as energy.
When John Paul passed away, there was a celebration on “the hill.” John Paul visited with angels and his deceased loved ones before passing away.
At John Paul's funeral, his best friend, Houston, another speller, wrote a eulogy for him. In it he said that the reason we are on earth is to love, and that love is God, and God is love, and all that matters is love. The other spellers who attended his funeral kept spelling to their parents that they couldn’t believe how many angels they were seeing there.
Since Houston was believed to have a low IQ for much of his life, he was treated like a toddler in school. When his mother Katie discovered he was telepathic and was communicating with her by reading her thoughts, it completely changed how she saw him.
Discovering just how intelligent Houston really was, Katie tried to get him into a regular classroom using S2C. Sadly, she was told that the school would not allow him to use S2C because they did not see it as a legitimate way of communication. It didn’t matter because Houston was soon to graduate anyway.
One of the first things Houston said to Katie telepathically at the age of 17 was “Mama, I love you.” Katie said that this was the first time she ever “heard” Houston.
Houston also told his mother that he loved crystals and stones. Katie, being an Evangelical Christian, had never been taught about the benefits of crystals and stones. She knew that Houston’s happiness was more important than church dogma and so she gave him the stones. She soon found him in his room lying in the middle of a stone circle. He told her the stones had good energy which he needed.
Katie soon found that Houston had other extra sensory abilities. He could talk and communicate with “angels.” Once Katie could communicate with Houston telepathically, she discovered he had a vast knowledge of history even though he never had a history class in school.
Now she and Houston frequently communicate with each other telepathically, in addition to S2C. Houston also writes poetry and aspires to be a writer.
Every time Houston went to the gym, he ran around looking for people. Katie now knows he was communicating telepathically with the people he sees.
As happy as Katie is to finally be able to communicate with Houston and understand his telepathy, she feels guilty because he had been picking up on the negative things she used to think about him — thoughts planted in her brain by people she thought were experts.
Katie also discovered through Houston that her ex-husband was abusing another family member. Through her son’s communication, Katie was able to put an immediate stop to the abuse.
Houston's brother, Thomas, was skeptical at first. Now that he experiences his own telepathed communication with Houston, he is a believer, as are his many friends.
Another speller featured on The Telepathy Tapes is a young man named Kyle Coleman. He is nonverbal but he is a very talented singer and songwriter. He telepathically communicates with his mother through lucid dreaming. His mother also knows if Kyle really needs to tell her something he will telepathically do it through a dream.
Kyle's music ability came in an unexpected way. Every time his music therapist came in the room, she would bring a keyboard. One day during a music therapy session Kyle started playing a song on the keyboard singing in perfect pitch. His mother said he had never even had a vocal lesson.
Kyle can also play instruments without ever having been taught. Amazingly, he has released two albums and is working on a third.
In one YouTube video, Kyle sings “Just Listen.” According to his mother, he created the song to tell people that just because a speller cannot communicate with their words, it is important to listen to their needs and to treat them like the intelligent human beings that they are.
Kyle's mother says he sings songs that other people write for him. He telepathically gives her lyrics which she writes so he can then create the song.
Kyle’s appearance in The Telepathy Tapes has given him huge exposure for his music. His mother says he uses nonverbal communication when they are in recording sessions. Kyle will give her a head nod if he doesn't like how the recording session is going or other nonverbal communication signals as needed.
A good majority of spellers can also see other paranormal phenomenon in addition to being able to talk with spirits from the other side. They can also see negative entities that their parents are not able to see.
Spellers have told their parents that they are able to go to the other side any time they feel like it. Many spellers tell their parents they are not as connected to their bodies as neurotypicals. This makes it easier for them to astral project out of their bodies, allowing them to go to these other realms or dimensions.
Another speller featured in The Telepathy Tapes is Akeem whose telepathy was studied by Deepak Chopra. Akeem’s parents say he started telepathically communicating from a very young age and that he was able to tell his mother what the plot of a movie she was watching was, even though he was not in the same room with her.
Akeem also regularly communicates with his friends on “the hill.” He frequently tells his mother he wishes everyone would telepathically communicate with him like she does.
Akeem’s mother has told him that not everyone understands telepathic communication and that he must accept that most people will choose not to communicate that way. She reassures him that she will always be available to telepathically communicate with him anytime he feels like it. Akeem also uses S2C by using an iPad which he does independently. Akeem is currently attending college.
Some people in the metaphysical field attempt to explain why spellers possess telepathic ability, as well as clair-audience, clairvoyance, clairsentience, claircognizance, and seer abilities. They think it is because they are less connected to their bodies.
Many spellers tell their parents telepathically that they don't realize that they have fingers or hands. The reason many spellers flap their hands is to remind them where their hands are. Not being as anchored to their bodies allows them to leave their bodies easier and to have these deep and profound experiences.
Many verbal people on the spectrum do not need to use telepathy as much as some spellers do. Even when these “higher functioning” individuals do not use the spelling board, they still display psychic and seer abilities.
S2C is a vital way for spellers to communicate (with or without telepathy) in the outside world and is gaining popularity. Spelling practitioners are becoming as popular as ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapists.
However, there are still groups including ASHA, (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association) and some ABA practitioners who do not believe S2C is a legitimate way of communication. They forbid their clients to use it.
I believe that part of the refusal to accept telepathy in the spellers is that many of the therapists have internalized “ableism,” the prejudice and discrimination toward neuro-divergent people that makes people see them as “less than” or not smart. We must always remember to view the spellers as competent people who are smart and intelligent.
Their resistance is very similar to how people used to treat blind and deaf people. Experts and the general population used to think blind and deaf people were inherently not smart and didn’t have anything to contribute.

We now know blind and deaf people can be incredibly smart and intelligent. The fact that they are deaf, or blind does not change that.
It is the same thing with the spellers. Many of the people opposed to S2C believe spellers are inherently not smart and not “there” and that allowing parents to use S2C only gives the parents false hope when none of that is true. Spelling gives these individuals a way to communicate.
If you are open to the wisdom of nonverbal individuals, you will gain valuable insights about the world, how it works, what our place is in the world, and how the non-physical world is just as important as the physical.
Through this form of communication, spellers can be the messengers for ways to improve life for everyone on this planet. They show us communication is not just verbal. We have simply forgotten the telepathic language, and they are reminding us to relearn it.
Have you ever thought of someone, and then they called on the phone? Have you ever thought of something and the someone else said it? If so, you are using telepathy. Imagine if we all could communicate that way!
