Every child has used their imagination whether to play a game with their friends, to imagine fairy tale worlds, to imagine themselves as a Princess or a movie star. Every kid has partaken in this imaginative form of play but what if I told you that this is for adults, too.

That is what Neville Goddard taught. Neville believed that our imaginations are a creative power and that our consciousness shapes or molds our reality.

He called it the “Law of Assumption” which says that in assuming the feeling of the desired state, the physical reality must conform to the inner state. He counseled people to learn how to feel from the end desire. The physical world reflects our inner beliefs.

Neville learned about the power of imagination from his mentor, Abdullah, an Ethiopian rabbi who taught Neville the Kabbalah and Hebrew between 1929 and 1936.  He learned from Abdullah the spiritual law that states if you imagine the feeling of positive things in your life you will get more positive outcomes. The opposite is also true. If you imagine more negative things in your life or imagine scarcity or fear, you will experience more of those things.

Neville also talked about the I AM as the ultimate creative power.  According to Neville, when you say I AM this or that, you are claiming that in the quantum field which is why it is so powerful.

Neville liked to use the example of the story of Moses. When he asked God what his name was, God responded “I AM THAT I AM.”

According to Neville the I AM is the power of creation available to all of us. He taught people that by tapping into this creative power through the I AM statements, they can have more conscious control over their lives and enjoy happier, more successful experiences in all areas.

What we say to ourselves, and believe, is important and shapes our reality. When we look at ancient people and consider the Bible quote: “In the beginning was the Word”, quantum physics scientists know it's more than just a religious saying. It is ancient wisdom and cultures telling us that thought, sound, and vibration influence our physical reality.

We imagine every day without realizing it. People use their imagination in positive and negative ways all the time.

Before getting into your car, you can imagine the freeway being clear and fast, or you can imagine it being slow and crowded. Every time you assume you are imagining. Why not assume the best?

Neville really wanted to go to his homeland in Barbados, but he had no money. Abdullah had him imagine that he was already in Barbados. He was to imagine his bed and imagine with feeling every detail of his home there.

He was instructed to not worry about the “how” because the “is” was already set. So, Neville imagined the feeling of being in Barbados and within three months he was there by a series of unexpected events.

Neville became one of the most influential spiritual teachers, writing many books on the topic. A contemporary of his was Dr. Joseph Murphy who also wrote many books about the power of the subconscious mind. Neville and Murphy taught readers to realize their own power over outer circumstances.  When we tap into the power of creation, we can realize positive things into our lives.

Assume that it is so and use the power of positive assumption in all areas of your life so your life can can be happy and abundant. Your outer life is the mirror of your inner thoughts and assumptions.

The more people can tap into their imaginations and realize the power of the I Am statements, the more peaceful and beautiful the world will be.
